University of ConnecticutStorrs, CT

The Association of Peruvian American Professionals in collaboration with the Neag School of Education, the ECE Program and the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at UConn, are organizing an interdisciplinary conference for Connecticut educators and University students interested in learning more about South America. The purpose of this conference is to encourage teachers to incorporate South America into the academic curriculum, provide instructional materials on South America that teachers can implement in the classroom, promote South American culture through education and to celebrate diversity and promote tolerance of different cultures in Connecticut's youth.

Call for Workshop Presenters

We are currently looking for presenters from all disciplines to present a workshop on South America. Proposed presentations should be relevant and practical to the target audience, educators in Connecticut.

Topic areas include but are not limited to: using South American culture to teach Spanish through art, music, dance, history, geography, cuisine, literature, places of interest, communication. Grammar, vocabulary and technology.

We encourage workshops to be interactive. Conference participants prefer presentations that focus on how to incorporate South America into their classrooms.

All workshop presenters should have handouts to distribute to workshop participants that they can utilize in their classrooms, such as learning activities, reading materials, or other relevant cultural information.
